Training V workouts

Nice article in Kettlebell inc magazine this month about this. I’ve taken some time to move on from just working out to training and am probably not quite there yet. I do like a good workout. But have been much more focused about improving my form over the past few weeks and have seen a great improvement in the strength behind my moves.I did work on the Rights Of Passage last year and increased my press confidence if not the form.So I can see the benefits of training over simply working out.

But I do get distracted by the desire for a less intense general workout every now and then. I need to ask why I shouldn’t interrupt a training program with a simple workout which taxes the body but not the mind, as a mental break if nothing else-answers on a postcard!

I can still do forward rolls- I had to demonstrate to a few 6 year olds this week and found this easy. Not many teachers(Or head teachers) my age can be seen demonstrating forward rolls in class! We all smiled and smiled.

I’m still having problems finding somewhere to work in the gym on some days. Boxers left right and centre today. I ended up in the cage again and then two guys tried to get me to leave the cage and threatened me when I refused. So I pointed out that a kettlebell might come their way if they tried-I’ve spent all week dealing with bullies one way or another so was not intimidated. They started boxing and came a little close so I repeated the rolling kettlebell move I used a few weeks ago, just let go on the back swing. I heard sharp intakes of breath and curses- wish I’d been using the 16kg today. Worked like a dream but still couldn’t relax and concentrate properly. So left early and suggested to management that they create a mats area in the women only space. I know I’m not the only woman having problems and I’m not asking for much space. Perhaps I can create a home gym in my new house- if the sale goes through…
